Welcome to Bali, Welcome to My CLICKABLE World. It's the world I'm living in since 1999, well...in the beginning of millennium more precisely ;).
In this era of information, I thought it is a right thing to do to make a website. And my job is to help people to realise their business, their leisure, and their dream in a CLICKABLE way! Let the world see your products, your hotels or villas, your organisation aims - anything you want people to know more about you or whatever you represent as.
Unlike for some people who use Website as their one and only sales weapon: where you want it at the lowest cost but as fancy as possible, then you expect it could brings you profit as big as you dream it. NO, I would rather see it and want people to believe that Making a Website is like saving your money instead of wasting it. It's an investment for your business! You never know who would buy your products or reserve your hotels, they could be someone from another part of the world.
But for that, there are some strategies, and as idealistic and as sophisticated as you wish your website to be, it needs a compromise as well. Making and having a website means we should look at these following important aspects:
-
Think and consider about people who will visit your website. Some people like so much to use flash program or lots and lots of hi-res pictures to make it cool and presentable on the outside. But you must also think that this could be quite heavy for them to download at first, and they might not really want to continue to see even the first page (home page). It might be a great web design for you but may not be the same as people think about it.
-
The internet connection. It's probably not the same speed as your wave line or broadband internet connection. Many people, specially in Indonesia are still using telephone line (including Bali!), and it could be very slow sometimes. If you use many animations or flash program, it could be very heavy for them to download the homepage. Your website needs to be simple, informative, yet not boring!
-
Search Engine. This should come into your first consideration if you are selling your products on website and wish people to find it on the top ten list once they type some keywords (For example: Bali Web design/Villas in Bali/Bali handy craft/Bali Business Association). It won't look for a high-resolution images or fancy design. We should follow the Search Engine Rule, otherwise it kicks your website off the top rank.
So that's what I would like to share to you based on my 8 years experience in Bali web design, Web 2.0, CMS (Content Management System), Web Programming, CSS, etc. There are still many things to learn, many new technology to find out. Web design and programming is a very developing world that grows very fast. Don't be afraid to ask and don't give up on technology. Better know it a little and wanting to know it more than being totally ignorant
Our big planet, is just a click away...Let's "DO YOUR CLICKABLE !!!"
